The Bosphorus... One of the most storied and most beautiful waterways in the world. Shimmering waters dividing Asia from Europe, elegant domes and minarets standing majestically on the shores, tiny fishing boats bobbing in the wake of huge ships, home to some of the finest natural harbors anywhere. The Bosphorus trip is one Jason and the Argonauts took, and one you shouldn’t miss on any visit to Istanbul. This leisurely tour includes a picturesque cruise along the storied waterway, past wooded hills, waterfront mansions, picturesque villages, and some of Istanbul’s most famous, and most spectacular landmarks.

You’ll visit Spice Market, where you can walk past busy, aromatic stalls with vendors offering all the exotic flavors of Turkey. It’s a great opportunity for a photo, with colorful people and colorful spices of all kinds, oregano, sage, cumin, mint and dill to mention a few. It’s also a great place from which to take a taste of Istanbul home with you.

You’ll go ashore at the Rumeli Fortress on the European side of the Bosphorus, a towering, majestic castle built in 1452 at the narrowest point of the Bosphorus. More than 10,000 workers participated in the construction of this castle under Sultan Mehmet the Conqueror, who would use it less than one year later to bring about the fall of Constantinople to the Ottomans. Draped languidly over the slopes, as if it were built yesterday, with neat crenellations and round towers, it’s a gorgeous and powerful structure, with a spectacular view of the Bosphorus.

Lunch: Lunch will be served at a nice local sea food restaurant.

After lunch, you will visit Sadberk Hanim Museum before returning to the pier or hotel.
